The course looks jam-packed full of Industry ties and that adds to it's alllure! From looking at "what will I study" caption it is fair to say that what I will learn will add to my attributes already gained which will enable me to be successful in a fast moving industry. One of the bad things about Bournemouth is, is that it is too far away from the island, my home, I don't know whether or not I would start to feel too home sick If I go here.....I would, on gut instinct, opt for a Univeristy closer to home!

Bournemouth University boast its Art college as one of the best in the UK and from looking at the "Digital Media Design BA" course I get a sense as to why the University has a fair claim to this tittle!

The University of Chester looks like it can compete with the other universities! From looking at the Graphic Design course, it is fair to say that the course would be challenging enough! But also builds upon what I already have learnt! From looking at the SU website it looks like student life is buzzing! (which can never be a bad thing!)
Chester, is not far from the Isle of man, and this contributes to its appeal to me. Looks like if I'm heading to University, Then Chester is definately on my list of Univesities I wouldn't mind going to!

I like the University of Bolton, and like with Edge Hill, I wouldn't automatically tie in these two Universities with the Arts Universities such as BOURNEMOUTH. The webiste says that it ties itself in with industry appropriate study and, this would be beneficial in a changing Advertising and Media setting.
I like the location as the university is situated within the city of Bolton. Bolton is close to home so coming back herefor holidays will be quite easy. Something to think about......

Edge hill, although it is a little known university, the "Advertising, Marketing and public relations" degree course looks like it builds on what I have already learnt from the Isle Of Man College course. it states that it has good industry ties and that a work placement is encorporated into the course. Edge Hill situated at ormskirk is just outside both Liverpool and Manchester. This means it is Incredibly close to home and although it is outside cities, it is within throwing distance of 2!!! The other unis have to do alot to try and impress me more than Edge Hill!

I love this almost abstract Magazine cover.......The serif font goes really well with the angled facial features of the girls in the photograph. The boldness of the font really catches the eye.
This Fashion magazine looks like it could be a sort of up market target audience but will also appeal to the younger generation.
I really like how on this magazine cover the type is cut to a minimum, I'VE NEVER LIKED CLUTTERED MAGAZINE COVERS, and this cover goes to show that the minimalistic approach to advertising really works!!!

Back to blogging!
After a short working interlude I am back to blogging!! TBH i've really missed it! Back to graphic design in magazine covers!!!

I really like The layout of this Magazine spread taken from a children's Magazine. I like how the Type is cut to a minimum and the page is cluttered with pictures and Cartoons. The colour arrangement is quite simple but effective, it gives the spread a cool theme, which is relavent because the article is about "winter in canada".
I think the "Speech buble" graphic is really effective, it's quite cartoony and adds to the appeal to the target age range.

Now this Magazine cover is eye catching! I like the use of the Photograph of the flower to achieve this, it's colour goes alot to its effectiveness. I Don't like however, how the cover is really cluttered with Type. Having said this, too little type and it wouldn't look right either! I think the colour of type clashes really well with the Orange of the Flower. I also like of the font is REALLY bold, it makes it easier to read. I also like how Some are more bolder than others, it makes the reader filter through the stuff they dont want to read, to the stuff they do, a smart move in my opinion! The target audience has to be 50+ and I can see how the Designer has created something that attracts this age range.

I think this Magazine cover I found from kikimora children's magazine is really effective. The layout, with the tittle across the top is quite Classical, with a modern edge because it is angled. The image itself with the graphical element blended in with the quite evocative pose from the boy is really effective in catching the eye! The Colour pallete is really modern, and the Red White and Blue fits in the "Made im the U.S.A" tittle. I also like how the Designer hasn't cluttered the cover with type, it make it quite basic and that adds to it' effectivenes.

Uni choices
I've been looking at Unis for a couple of days now, and I definately have some criteria that I want the University I may choose to meet. This is of course whether or not i decide to go Uni. These are;
- A city Location, I love the Urban feel to a city, that things are happening, it's exciting!
- Close to home, If i choose to go to uni, it has to be close to home, I have a live here, i'm not willing to just abandon for the sake of a degree!
- Good Industrial links, It's all well an good getting a degree, It's another thing where it's going to lead you to after that's important.
Hello magazine, probably the most read Magazine there is. I can say that i think the White on Red Typography for the Title is really effective in catching the eye. this cover is littered with Photography, which goes to show that mot people dont actually read it for the vital information that is in it! I DO like however how the stories Highlight is in bold like with "TOM CRUISE" It really catches the eye of the reader. I think the san serif font used on the cover i effective in enabling the reader to read the title and content easily.

Typography and word layout
Typography and Words can contribute to a designs success and downfall. They can certainly have an impact, not just onomatopoeic words such as boom or pow. I want to look at Different types of layout and typography to try and refine my own aproach to a deign's appearance.
