I really like The layout of this Magazine spread taken from a children's Magazine. I like how the Type is cut to a minimum and the page is cluttered with pictures and Cartoons. The colour arrangement is quite simple but effective, it gives the spread a cool theme, which is relavent because the article is about "winter in canada".
I think the "Speech buble" graphic is really effective, it's quite cartoony and adds to the appeal to the target age range.

Now this Magazine cover is eye catching! I like the use of the Photograph of the flower to achieve this, it's colour goes alot to its effectiveness. I Don't like however, how the cover is really cluttered with Type. Having said this, too little type and it wouldn't look right either! I think the colour of type clashes really well with the Orange of the Flower. I also like of the font is REALLY bold, it makes it easier to read. I also like how Some are more bolder than others, it makes the reader filter through the stuff they dont want to read, to the stuff they do, a smart move in my opinion! The target audience has to be 50+ and I can see how the Designer has created something that attracts this age range.

I think this Magazine cover I found from kikimora children's magazine is really effective. The layout, with the tittle across the top is quite Classical, with a modern edge because it is angled. The image itself with the graphical element blended in with the quite evocative pose from the boy is really effective in catching the eye! The Colour pallete is really modern, and the Red White and Blue fits in the "Made im the U.S.A" tittle. I also like how the Designer hasn't cluttered the cover with type, it make it quite basic and that adds to it' effectivenes.

Uni choices

I've been looking at Unis for a couple of days now, and I definately have some criteria that I want the University I may choose to meet. This is of course whether or not i decide to go Uni. These are;

  •  A city Location, I love the Urban feel to a city, that things are happening, it's exciting!
  • Close to home, If i choose to go to uni, it has to be close to home, I have a live here, i'm not willing to just abandon for the sake of a degree!
  • Good Industrial links, It's all well an good getting a degree, It's another thing where it's going to lead you to after that's important.
so, no that much to ask for UCAS, hit me with your best shot!
Hello magazine, probably the most read Magazine there is. I can say that i think the White on Red Typography for the Title is really effective in catching the eye. this cover is littered with Photography, which goes to show that mot people dont actually read it for the vital information that is in it! I DO like however how the stories Highlight is in bold like with "TOM CRUISE" It really catches the eye of the reader. I think the san serif font used on the cover i effective in enabling the reader to read the title and content easily.

Typography and word layout

Typography and Words can contribute to a designs success and downfall. They can certainly have an impact, not just onomatopoeic words such as boom or pow. I want to look at Different types of layout and typography to try and refine my own aproach to a deign's appearance.
